Remus Badea

Remus Badea is a concert violinist and educator, and a native of Chicago. He performs on a regular basis in solo concerts, recitals, and chamber music, including acting as concertmaster of several orchestras. Currently, concertmaster of Southwest Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Badea and is the Executive Director of American Music Institute and Director of the Chicago Violin Competition.

Remus Badea received his Bachelor and Masters of Music from the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music (CCM) in Violin Performance while under full scholarship. There he studied under world renowned violin teachers Dorothy Delay, Won-Bin Yim and Piotr Milewski. While at CCM he was recipient of the prestigious Heerman and Starling Awards. Mr. Badea has participated and performed during the summer with CCM “Music ’97 & ’99”, Aspen Music Festival and Bard Music Festival.

Most recent accolades: Featured performer on international TV, Radio, and movie soundtracks. Recent solo engagements with the Southwest Symphony Orchestra, Bell Canto Symphony, and Elmhurst College Philharmonic Orchestra, amongst others. Mr. Badea previously taught violin and viola as professor at Elmhurst College.
