Competition Results – Managing ExpectationsCompetition Results – Managing Expectations

Participating in a competition is an exciting, challenging, and rewarding experience. At the Chicago Violin Competition, we understand that putting yourself out there to be judged can be intimidating, but it’s a vital part of the growth process. Winning and losing are both integral parts of any competition, and competition results and managing expectations offer valuable lessons.

Being part of the winner’s circle or a laureate is a fantastic accomplishment, and we celebrate those who achieve this honor. However, for those who find themselves outside the winning circle, it’s essential to remember that competing is about so much more than the final result. Every step, from rigorous practice to performing on stage, contributes to becoming a stronger musician. The experience of competition pushes boundaries, refines skills, and builds resilience. Whether or not one takes home a prize, simply going through the competition process is an incredible feat.

At the Chicago Violin Competition, we strive to make the journey as educational as possible. We encourage all contestants to recognize their achievements, regardless of their placement, and hope each participant walks away feeling accomplished. We applaud every competitor for their dedication and for sharing their exceptional talent with the CVC Community and the world.
