Claire Metcalf – 3rd Prize 2018

Claire Metcalf,14, studies under Mrs. Betty Haag and Mr. Taka Matsunaga.  She has participated in master classes with Vadim Gluzman, Ilya Kaler, Jennifer Frautchi, Lisa Shihoten, and John Macfarlane.  Claire has participated in performance tours with Betty Haag Academy (Czech Republic, California, Germany, and Portugal) and the Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra to Austria and Carnegie Hall.  She placed first at the Confucius, MPO, and Granquist (Olympic Level) Competitions, third place at the Sejong Competition, and Honorable Mentions at the DePaul, Musichorale, and AMI Competitions.  She enjoys sewing, reading, and playing her cello in her spare time.
