Brandon Du – 1st Prize 2022 Senior Artist
Brandon Du, 18, began studying violin at four with Mr. and Mrs. Briskin. Brandon has been a member of the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras since 2013, and has performed as a soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra, National Chamber Ensemble, Columbia Orchestra, Ottawa Chamber Symphony, and Frederick Symphony Orchestra. Recently, Brandon was a semifinalist at the 2022 Cooper International Violin Competition, a 2021 National YoungArts winner, and an alternate semifinalist at the Stulberg International String Competition. In 2019, he was a quarterfinalist in the 3rd Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians.
Additionally, he has won first prize in the Senior and Junior divisions of the Columbia Orchestra Young Artist Competition, the Grand Prize of the Frederick Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition in 2019, first place in the Advanced Violin category, and the Women’s Committee Award at the 47th Annual Joseph and Goldie Feder Memorial String Competition, and the FMMC High School Competition for Strings in 2018. In the summer, he has attended music festivals including Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute, Summit Music Festival, Brian Lewis Young Artists Program, and Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra.
